Artist Biography
Born in the most luminous city of Kumasi, Idahossa Brogya Mensah, stage name Idahossa, is an Afro & Reggae Fusion artist based in Ghana.


As a man driven by his passion for love and romance, Idahossa’s writing primarily focuses on the sensual aspects of music. With the sole aim of depicting the non linearity of life, Idahossa seeks to create music that would be as liberating as possible. In his own words in an instagram live interview in May 2020, he said, “I want to make music that enables people to realize that they don’t always have to fit in. That they can be whoever and whatever they want to be, given that they are true to themselves and kind to others.”


Academically, Idahossa is a BSc. Civil Engineering graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. His love for music started at a very young age in church when he was made to learn the drums as part of his grandfather’s, also the head pastor’s, wishes. Inspired by the likes of Daddy Lumba, Daasebre Gyamenah, Kojo Antwi, Bob Marley, Queen, Marvin Gaye, and more recently, SYML, Drake, Busy Signal, The Weeknd, Christopher Martin and more, Idahossa started writing music in SHS as a rapper- singer where he attended the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Legon.


Weary of the hip hop music he was still creating in the University, he took a 2 1⁄2 year hiatus from music, as he sought to reinvent his sound and music brand. A soulful journey that would later inspire him into traveling to parts of Takoradi, Volta, Germany, Netherlands, France, all in order to positively influence his creative approach and thought process. He has since described his new sound as sultry and soul cleansing.


Asked why he creates art, he’s been known for directly, and without sophistication, saying it’s because it makes him happy, and because he’s good at it. Also, having been in the drama field all his life, he is particularly passionate about film and cinema, a genre of art he has always intended to blend with his music. Essentially, known for his attention to detail, Idahossa is an artist focused on telling stories with things that occur around him. A characteristic that has since developed his love for ecology and his social environment as a whole. So much that he named his first single Ocean, inspired by his fascination with beaches & life of water bodies.


With a mind of steel, and creative prowess quite unmatched by many in the creative field, Idahossa seeks to expand internationally by the end of 2021 and create a long lasting influence that would positively impact the world and most importantly his birthplace, Africa.
