Born as Kate Djan, on the 11th of May at Koforidua in the Eastern Region of the Republic of Ghana to the late Opanyin Kwadjo Gyan and Madam Mercy Okrah. Kate was the 5th born of six siblings. Kate started her basic and Junior High education at Koforidua Roman Catholic Basic School in her hometown, then to Madina Estate School where she completed her Junior high school in 1995 and later to Methodist Agric Secondary school for her Senior High Education which she completed in 1998. She then offered courses in Catering and Event planning at Adonai Catering Institute.

Kate is a Caterer and an Event planner by profession. She discovered her love for music and creative arts at a very tender age, growing up she joined the Methodist Gospel band, the main adult band and then to the Amazing Grace band in Koforidua with Martinson Larbi, Joe Pompeo and Akrofi Francis while in secondary school and to the Wind Afric Band in Accra, she was then the only lady in the band as at 2002. She did BV's and lead Vocals with the bands. Kate begun taken the music craft very seriously when she started having the opportunity to be a backing Vocalist for stars like Stella Aba Seal, Amy Newman, Jackie Ankrah just to mention a few. She also did some compositions and backups at studios for new artists as well.

Kate was inspired by the association with these stars and weekly studio sections, through which she Recorded her first Album she entitled “Aseda” in 2009. The Aseda album featured Ohemaa Mercy and it was recorded with Nacy Records (Nana Nacee), Rhythm Africa, and Francis Osei Studio (Ghana’s undisputed drummer).

Kate takes inspiration from reading the word of God, daily pressures of life and other family related issues to write her songs during her quite time. Her mentors and favorite musicians are Amy Newman, Daughters of Glorious Jesus and Ohemaa Mercy.

She is married to John K. Asare with two lovely kids. A strong believer and a member of the Church of Pentecost at MacCarthy Hills congregation. Cooking, Baking, Listening to Music and Singing are her Hobbies....

More than a decade after the release of her first album, she took time off for, marriage, family life, personal upgrade and other important achievements to perfect her life and relationship with the Lord. Kate has announced her COMEBACK with her new album entitled “NSURO” meaning “Fear Not”. NSURO is produced by Barack Osei, with classics such as Solid Rock, WADINKUNIM, AY3YI NDWUM.

Currently in circulation is her single which happens to be the title of the album “NSURO” both the audio and video.
